The movement of people around the world is a topic that is frequently covered in news stories. Whether by choice or due to external pressure, people immigrate every day from all over the world. The history of immigration is a lengthy and continuous story of the global movement. As an artist, I am drawn to the complex and poignant topic of human migration and the diaspora that it creates. Through my art, I seek to understand the intricacies of belonging and identity, as well as the emotional toll that comes with being uprooted from one's homeland.

Having personally experienced the challenges of being an international student constantly on the move, I have grappled with questions of home and belonging and the rights that I possess in this world. These experiences have fueled my desire to explore the stories and emotions of others who have gone through similar journeys.

Through my work, I aim to bridge cultural divides and foster empathy by delving into the elements that influence migration and settlement in different regions such as the Midwest. As a visual artist, I utilize the power of photography as my primary medium to produce art that inspires viewers to think about and interact with this significant subject. My creative process involves environmental portraits of immigrants against a white backdrop, symbolizing the separation between the immigrant and their American home. This metaphor underscores the perpetual presence of one's original heritage, suggesting that, regardless of time spent in a new land, an indelible connection to the past shapes the immigrant's identity.
